Love GOD. Love each other. Change the world.

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES - Ministering with time and money to a broken world

Within our church community there are many ways to receive spiritual enrichment and to serve our Lord. Please take a few minutes to read through the opportunities available, then prayerfully consider the ways you can use your gifts and answer your spiritual needs within our church body

Family Promise

Fairview is a member of The Family Promise Network of Greater Johnson City, Tennessee which provides a network of churches and community agencies to promote a community response for homeless families with children. Our volunteers provide food, overnight shelter and compassion to homeless families struggling with economic crisis. Our future plans are to become a host church.

Opportunities to contribute to this mission are announced in advance. For additional information, contact Kristy Robinson (557-1607).

Czech Republic

The Johnson City District entered into a partnership with the United Methodist Churches of the Czech Republic beginning in 2005, providing them with financial support for their missions and programs. In addition, the District has served the Czech District with Volunteer in Mission teams. Fairview continues to work with the growing church community in the Czech Republic.

Members of the church have gone overseas to assist with Bible school and training in the Czech Republic. If you are interested in this ministry, contact Joe Carr (753-4606).

United Methodist Local and Global Missions

Throughout the year Fairview participates in various mission projects. During 2012 we helped a family build a Habitat for Humanity home. Another is planned in the coming year. Our Youth spearheaded a collection to focus on World Hunger. Many in our congregation participated in a blood drive. Offerings include One Great Hour of Sharing, World Communion Sunday for Global Ministries, UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), and buckets of food items for global hunger as part of the annual Conference offering. Local missions include a shopping trip conducted by the women of the Share Group to provide disadvantaged children in our program with clothing and school supplies. The congregation also contributes to the Youth's mission trips and delivers food baskets to those in need in the community during the November holidays. Fairview also supports the nearby Community Help Center with food, clothing, household items, and volunteer donations. This Center was started by area churches to help their neighbors in financial need.

These various projects are announced in advance. If you are interested in more involvement with global missions, contact Linda Parks (913-2806).

LOCAL EVANGELISM - The preaching of the Christian gospel

Evangelism has its roots in Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) when Jesus commanded his eleven disciples as follows: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Our evangelism team focuses on spreading the word about Calvary and telling people about the good news of Jesus Christ and how God is transforming lives at Fairview. We also focus on bringing members in the community into our church family and nurturing our current membership.

Be part of one of our new teams. These include visitation, altar prayer partners, greeters, communion bearers, advertisement and updating our church sign. If you would be interested in working with any of these ministries.
