Have Thine Own Way, Lord

“Have Thine Own Way, Lord” was written by Adelaide Pollard in the early 1900’s.  She had felt that God wanted her to go to Africa as a missionary, but was unable to raise the necessary funds.  One evening, at a prayer meeting, an elderly lady prayed, “It doesn’t matter what you bring into our lives, Lord.  Just have you own way with us.”  That prayer filled Adelaide’s mind and heart.  As she read again the story of the potter and clay in Jeremiah 18, the words of the poem formed, and she wrote out the prayer, “Have Thine Own Way, Lord.”
