The Community Help Center is always in need of food for area families. December 19th is “Seasoning the Season” Sunday. In Colossians 4:6, Paul uses the metaphor of salt. Salt, in Paul’s day, was valuable enough to be used as money, and was treasured for its ability to preserve and flavor foods. In the same way, a Christian’s speech and actions should be helpful and valuable, ”flavored” differently from those of non-believers, and preserving the message of Christ. So, let’s put some flavor into our giving this season, flavoring our Christian generosity with a helpful and valuable gift of salt and pepper.

Community Thanksgiving Meal will be Thursday, November 25th, from 11:00-1:00 in the Fellowship Hall. This meal is free to all with our thanks to God and to our friends and neighbors for all of our blessings. Take-outs are available if you prefer.

November 28th is the first Sunday of Advent. In recognition, we will be “Hanging the Greens” during the 11:00 Worship Service that Sunday. Traditionally, members of the congregation have decorated wreaths for the Sanctuary windows. If you would like to help, please contact Anita Hensley.

Blessing Box items need to be at the church by November 28th for delivery that week. For more information about Jonesborough’s Blessing Box, visit this site: https://www.heraldandtribune.com/local-news/blessing-box-offers-community-help/

Christmas Puppet Show, “The Christmas Story”, is presented by our Children’s Ministry on Sunday, December 12th, at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. It’s not just for young children, but for children of all ages, from 1-100. Come out and enjoy!

Fairview Church Council will meet on Tuesday, December 14th at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Only council members can vote on issues, but all church members are welcome to the meeting.

Fairview will present a Live Nativity on Saturday, December 18th, at 5:00 pm on the church grounds. Drive through, or walk through, and experience our visions of Bethlehem as we prepare ourselves spiritually for Christmas.

Christmas Caroling on Sunday, December 19th, starting at 6:00 pm. If you are a choir member, or just enjoy singing, please come and help us out! It’s lots of fun, and brings a bit of Christmas cheer to our shut-ins.
